Minimal Taps to Log

Get your set recorded and your phone back in your pocket in a few seconds. RepTally is designed around speed, not feature bloat.

Warmup, Working & Failure Tags

Mark any set as a warmup, working set, or failure rep. Your history reflects exactly what happened, not just the numbers.

Workout Notes Per Exercise

Attach a note to any exercise or session — cue reminders, form observations, how the weight felt. Useful context the next time you pull up that lift.

Full Exercise History On-Screen

See your last few sessions for a given exercise while you're still logging it. No need to back out and search — the reference is right there.

Automatic PR Detection

RepTally flags personal records as they happen. No manual tracking or spreadsheet updates required.

Works Offline

Basement gym, hotel gym, or anywhere else with no signal. RepTally logs your workout locally and syncs when you're back online.

How It Works

1

Build your routine once

Use the custom routine builder to set up your training split — exercises, order, and target sets. You only configure this once; after that, starting a workout takes a single tap.

2

Start the workout and begin logging

Tap Start Workout and you're in. Each exercise in your routine is queued up. Enter the weight and reps for a set, then tap to log it. The interface advances automatically so you're always looking at the next set.

3

Tag your sets as you go

Before or after logging a set, mark it as a warmup, working set, or failure. This takes one extra tap and pays off later when you're reviewing what actually happened in a session.

4

Check your history mid-session

Tap any exercise to see what you logged last time and the time before that. Use it to decide whether to add weight, hold, or back off. No need to leave the logging screen.

5

Finish and add a session note

When you're done, end the workout. Add a note if something stood out — energy levels, a technique change, an injury tweak — and save. That context becomes part of your permanent gym log.

Why Most Workout Logging Apps Get in the Way

A lot of workout logging apps are designed in a boardroom, not a gym. They prioritize onboarding flows, upsell modals, and dashboards over the thing you actually need: a fast, reliable way to record a set without losing focus on the lift.

If you've ever fumbled through nested menus between sets, watched an ad before getting to your log, or lost data because the app required a signal to save — you've felt the problem. The workout logger should be invisible. It should do its job in a few seconds and then leave you alone.

RepTally was built from that frustration. Every design decision starts with a single question: does this make logging faster or slower? If the answer is slower, it doesn't ship.

Set Tagging: Warmup, Working, and Failure

Most gym logs treat all sets the same — a number of reps at a given weight. That's not how training actually works. A 135-pound bench set looks very different when it's a warmup at the start of a session versus a grinding failure attempt at the end.

RepTally lets you tag each set as a warmup, working set, or failure with a single tap. Warmup sets won't inflate your volume numbers. Failure reps are marked separately so you can see where you hit your limit. When you review your history weeks later, you get the full picture instead of a flat list of numbers.

This granularity matters most when you're troubleshooting. If progress stalls on a lift, being able to see that you've been grinding to failure on your last working set for three straight weeks tells you something. A plain number log doesn't.

Logging Notes: The Part Most Lifters Skip (and Shouldn't)

The instinct is to skip workout notes because they feel optional. After a hard session you just want to be done. But notes are where the useful, unstructured information lives — the kind that doesn't fit into sets and reps.

RepTally supports notes at the exercise level and the session level. You might note that your left shoulder was tight on overhead press, that you switched grip width on rows, or that you hit deadlifts on four hours of sleep. None of that information shows up in the weight and rep columns, but all of it affects how you interpret the numbers.

When you pull up that exercise three months later trying to figure out why a lift stalled, those notes often hold the answer. Write them when it's fresh. Future you will use them.

Offline Logging: Works Where the Signal Doesn't

Gym Wi-Fi is unreliable. Basement gyms, hotel fitness rooms, and commercial gyms in dense buildings all have dead zones. A workout logger that requires a live connection is a liability — at some point it will fail you mid-session.

RepTally stores everything locally on your device first. When a connection is available, it syncs. You never see an error message mid-set telling you the save failed. The data is there when you need it.

From Log to Progress: What the Data Shows You

Logging sets and reps is only half the story. The reason you keep a gym log is to understand whether you're moving in the right direction over time. RepTally turns your raw workout history into visual progress charts for total volume, max weight per session, and estimated one-rep max.

Personal records are tracked automatically. When you hit a new best on any lift, RepTally marks it without you having to do anything. You'll see PRs highlighted in your session summary and in your exercise history.

The data you log during a workout becomes the feedback that guides your next one. That's the loop that makes consistent progress possible — and it starts with a workout logger that actually captures what happened.

  • Volume chart: total weight moved per session over time
  • Max weight chart: your top single-set weight by date
  • Estimated 1RM: calculated from your working sets, plotted over time
  • PR flags: automatically marked when you set a new personal best
